Colin’s Birth Story
Colin’s Birth Story
I have to admit that I have been awful at keeping the blog updated since I have been pregnant with Colin. So in order to remember the events of Colin’s birth and the weeks following I have decided to do a recap.
Friday July 3rd
Friday was a busy day for the Cheney family. Uncle Marcus had been staying with us and left earlier in the week for Colorado so it was time to get Colin’s room in order and take out all of the baby gear (there is a lot of gear) Mima was over and made us dinner. Matt and I were watching the Nationwide race when I started having my contractions. They started off pretty close together at 7 minutes and then quickly went to 5 minutes apart. When I called the nurse to see when I should come at around 12 she said that I needed to come right away because I was not 37 weeks yet. So we called Mima and she came over to stay with Cooper and Matt and I left for the hospital.
On the way there we got pulled over at a DWI checkpoint. However once we told them I was in labor they let us go right away. When we arrived at the hospital they hooked me up to the monitor and let me know that I would be staying. Soon after I got into my room the contractions felt like they had stopped completely. The doctor cam in to break my water to try and get things moving but no luck. I then got my epidural and pitocin. It seemed like everything was going so slow which was strange because with Cooper it went so fast. The last time the doctor checked me she said we were ready to go and one push and Colin arrived on the 4th of July! 7 lbs and 21 inches long. Shortly after we realized that Colin was grunting. They decided to bring him down to the NICU to get checked out.
Sadly that was the start to my little man’s long journey ahead.
